All programs are geared toward positive youth development and training
towards effective student resiliency and leadership training within the underserved
communities of New York City (Weissberg & Greenberg, 1996).
Youth services focus on forging a strong relationship between the
Creative Connections' Facilitator and the student. Further, they are based on the firm belief that students
can be developed as assets to their schools and communities. Creative Connections'
Staff Development Program incorporates contemporary adult learning theory (Speck, 1990)
with a focus on collaborative teamwork in school learning communities and strategies
for effective personal approaches to success in the classroom.
Assessment:
Creative Connections' has developed measurements
for evaluation and
assessment in order to assess program effectiveness. Post-test surveys with participants have been implemented since its inception to determine
programmatic strengths, including relationships between facilitators and students,
as well as staff.
